Introducing our first artist....MAQman!!!!

Hoora!! We are very nearly there folks! It has certainly been testing since we got back from our trip to Miami. For my part a lot of unforeseeable delays and me as a person likes to get things done and moving at a swift pace so this has been a good test of my patience and well to be honest my bloody sanity! The business is very nearly ready to be unleashed in the world of music. I am crazily trying to get all loose ends tied up, Artwork, press releases and sorting out the promo lists all the while trying to keep up with the endless amount of network sites we have between myself and Mike. I seem to be in a constant "chase the pigeon" scenario trying to get contracts signed and all the while trying to get to grips with the digital side of running a label. Then there's the delay on the website and logo's..oooh and t-shirts! On top trying to get Mikes gigs sorted and Mike is currently getting ready for DEMF this week! This is just a snippet of life right now! I have to say I wouldn't change it for the world, its damn hard work but extremely gratifying! We not stopping for no-one!! And proof will be in the pudding as they say! Strictly Beatdown is back baby! Look out for us in June 2010 (of course!) MAQman, swiss based producer is coming at cha! We are very proud and feel very honored to have his music on the label. The re launch starts on a very positive vibe indeed and we hope you feel it with us and enjoy his music as much as we do and can make your summer a little more funky for ya! WMC Miami 2010

Well things have been crazio here at Strictly Beatdown HQ! Myself and Mike have just come back from Miami. We both thought the conference was spookily quiet this year. But perhaps we were in our own little bubble doing couple things and the conference just breezed past us! But what we did do and the gigs we attended were full of fun and truly beautiful people. A real pleasure to hang out with. For me, I finally got to meet Mikes peeps from Detroit, lovely people I have to say, instantly made me feel welcome and clicked straight away with most! Also Mikes friends from San Fran..all cool "cats" as they say across the pond! Of course we were there not just to enjoy the nightlife but to network too. We had some teething problems before we left, on the label front and also our supposedly brand spanking new website didnt even materialize due to a totally incompetent designer who couldn't even run a piss up in a brewery even if he tried. We had no business cards for the conference as promised by the same guy aswell and it was too late to get any done last minute. Plus Mikes studio equipment had a mind of its own and both having tech difficulties could not get the e mail sampler out in time! But hell! Its not for a want of trying!! This is just a snippet of what happened before we left! But with all the odds chucked against us, we worked together well and supported each other where need be! A true team! Soooo....Miami finally came and all we were armed with was our sunglasses, a few last minute burnt Cds for the sampler and luckily some t shirts to give away! But we did it! We got the sampler into the right hands..of course not cool to name drop!! hee hee!! But we are happy with whos got them for sure. We did what was needed and talked our asses off about the label and the artists we have signed. Its certainly a good start and with Mikes reputation we were half way there anyway! Now we are back to Skype again, me in the UK and Mike back in Motown. Work is coming through thick and fast and I am finally ready to send out our tracks on our DJ Promo list. And with MAQman being our first featured artist on the label and ready to release end of the month we are moving and grooving! Mike is busy with productions for the label and has untold amount of remixes to do plus gigs are coming in thick and fast!! Mike will be in UK for July on tour!! Agent X mission very possible!! No1

So here we are well and truly into the start of 2010! And from the word go it really has been go here at the SB headquarters!
Firstly for those of you that have not been following my other blogs or are unaware of Strictly Beatdown, it is a label born out of the city of motown. The founder of this label and beatdown sound is a native Detroiter, International DJ Mike Clark alias Agent X. I will give you a couple of links at the bottom of this blog so you can do a lil research if this may be of interest to you of course!
Now where was I? Ooooh yes, we have started the year off as we mean to go on! Mike is finally back in the studio and with some new editions on the equipment side including his new AKAI MPK61 things are starting to take shape and with a first and finished track ready for Third Ears EP (tracks will be announced soon) things are going in the right direction! And not forgetting Native Instruments has given Mike Traktor Scratch Pro and Traktor Kontrol X1 and some other goodies to go with it as he is now sponsored with them so the Agent is well and truly equipped to the eye balls! We here at HQ are very happy about this!! Progress is going well! Of course while Mike has been getting to grips with the production side of things, here on the other side of the world back in the UK, I have been busy updating all of our sites, doing press releases and getting the label ready for re launch in Febuary. We have some amazing talent ready to unleash to the world and in due course will also be announced! Also very exiting that we have a new website being built which should be ready 1st week in Febuary where we will have everything all under one roof! Will keep you updated as of and when. And then of course we have to look forward to WMC 2010!! Where we will once again meet up with our Miami family and celebrate love life and music!! So....we on fire!
